Is it worth it?

We, my partner and our 4 children have the opportunity to house swap the last 2 weeks in July this year in Albaicin neighbourhood. Is it worth bringing 4 kids from the age of 12 to 17 - the adults love history and discovering. What is the weather usually like then? Too hot for our 3 redheads?

I visited Granada during the third week of July last year. It was one of the most amazing cities I've been to in my travels through Europe! The Alhambra was one of my favorite places and even kids should like it with so much exploring they can do at all the buildings and gardens onsite.

Take it from a fellow redhead - it was HOT! Scorching hot! It was 105 degrees F when I was there, but definately worth it! Be sure to wear 50+ sunscreen and reapply every few hours.

I have lots of pics of the Alhambra on my site if you want to check it out.

Happy travelling.

Even for an ex Southern Californian who used to bask in the sun 300+ days out of the year, Granada in July is hotter than hot. The summer I was there, it was 43C. IMO however, the discomfort is certainly worth it to all.

Yes, it's hot, but definitely worth it!

If your sking is very sensible, yes, better apply total sunblock cream generously, and wear a hat. But even better: do as locals do (they should be the experts!!). Wear confortable cotton clothing, spend the central hours of day indoors/in the shadow (if possible, having a long nice siesta), and go out at the evening, when it's cooler. Enjoy!!!
