train from Rome to Paris
Posted: Wed May 18, 2005 08:15 PM UTC
I just joined this fascinating site, so I hope that I am following all of the rules for posting questions in the forums. I have consecutive meetings this fall in Rome and Paris, with about one day in between. Airfare looks pretty steep. What is best and most expeditious way to travel from Rome to Paris by train?

Hello,

There is a night train that goes from Rome to Paris. It leaves Rome around 6pm and gets into Paris around 9am. This usually runs around $100. I would recommend checking out www.trenitalia.com or www.sncf.com, the official sites for train travel in Italy and France respectively.

Happy travelling!

There is another nightly sleeper train from Rome to Geneva with TGV connections from Lausanne and Geneva to Paris. Check www.cff.ch , which is slightly clearer than the trenitalia site.
Cheers,
Richard

Although budget carriers use regional airports (not easy to reach, but there is always a shuttle), you can get good Paris-Rome fares, try www.ryanair.com, www.easyjet.com or google low-cost airlines for Paris.
