Is it true that communicating via e-mail and/or phone (to the outside world) is fairly difficult in Nauru?

Yes, there can be logistical problems communicating with people on that island. Last year, I was handling travels for 2 officers, organizing documents and preparing speeches for them to attend a regional conference there. It was SO frustrating trying to get any communication through to them; for some reason, they could reply to us on e-mail (though always a week or so delayed), but they experienced difficulties receiving/sending faxes. Perhaps it will be different for you when dealing with individuals rather than an office.

I was in Nauru in 2001, and there was a place to send emails. I had no problems sending and receiving my email there.
