I plan to go to Guadalajara for two weeks in the summer. Is US$500 sufficient spending money for this amount of time. Costs for accomodation is excluded from this amount.

So much depends on your life style, but yes, as long as you limit yourself to about $100 for souvenirs you should be fine. (I would personally budget about $280 for food and drink, $100 for entrance fees and local transportation, and $100 for other purchases.) My travel style usually includes daily one fine meal at a special restaurant, a small cheaper breakfast and small cena often from little stands or modest places. I walk alot, drink moderately and visit as many museums and shows as I can find. I do carry extra money either as traveler's checks or a credit card because I never really know what I might find that I would want to buy, but otherwise for me I would almost certainly be under budget. Now, if you stay and eat only in high class places, you could bust this budget. You might have to limit yourself to a single new belt as a souvenir.

More than adequate. You realize that's $35 a day in a town where minimum wage is under $5 USD per day?

More than enough money.

Enough money. I live on 5000 pesos a month including rent.
