Hello VT members. :-)

Where are the best places to go lake kayaking or canoeing on the west coast of Sweden in the summer for a couple of days?
I've found it hard to get resources on the net, Which are the best regions for scenery Bohuslan/Vastergotland??
+ I've only kayaked once before about 6 years ago.

Bonjour Georgey,

Orust & other islands of Bohuslan offer absolutely lovely sceneries!
On campingground Stocken you also could go canoeing, but if you want to be in "Real Paradise" you should try Glaskogen.

Glas Forest is some 28000 ha of wilderness area with winding watercourses, great and small lakes, and vast forests. There you can find some 300 km long trails for hiking for a short morning walk or a week tour. There are also canoeing tours passing through several of the next to 80 lakes situated in the Natural Reserve.

Georgey
http://www.kanalvillan.com/kanot.html
has info in deutsch on canoing.
Here are some others (english available):

From friends I have heard that Dalsland (see for instance the first link above) is a paradise with canoe.
Just start searching! I hope these links can help you to go further. I have some more info that I can´t find for the moment. If I find it I will post it.
Best regards
Håkan

Do you absolutely want it to be the west coast? I know several in the south of Sweden. Having said that, Porteplume has recommended you a gorgeous part of Sweden :-)

Thanks for the response so far.
From the advice you've all given the Glaskogen region sounds the most enticing, I guess it just depends on how much money I save up, does anyone know the kind of costs involved? As far as the kayaking goes, are there routes of varying difficulty, I haven't kayaked in 6 years, and although I think I'm handy, I know you shouldn't run before you can walk, as it can be dangerous if you're not experienced enough in certain situations.

Well, Glafsskogen is a lake system and not the sea so it should be safer already. If you want to be closer to a big city (and cheap Ryanair flights) you can also go to Göteborg (Gothenburg) and canoe at Surtesjön and the lake system connecting it to other lakes in this nature reserve so close to a city.
