La Spezia Are there lockers at the train station?

We want to spend a full day at Cinque Terre but don't know what to do with our luggage. Are there suitcase-sized lockers at La Spezia-Centrale train station?

According to http://www.trenitalia.com/it/treni_stazioni/servizi_stazione/liguria/l_stazione.html (sorry, it's in Italian), there is a "Left Luggage" facility at La Spezia Centrale. I have not used this facility, but, normally, "Left Luggage" facilities are manned stations, not lockers, so the size of the luggage is not usually a problem...

Yes, there was a luggage area but I did not notice if it was maned or unmanned lockers. How are you planning to spend one full day at the Cinque Terre? Have a look at my pages on four of the five towns some of the photos may give you an idea of how the terrain looks and you might be better off dropping your bags at say Vernazza and heading down to Riomaggiore then walking back to your bags then stay the night. Just an idea… look at my accommodation tip, in Vernazza cheap and fab. Hope this helps j

If you take Jeff's advice and spend a night in one of the Cinque Terre, then taking your luggge to Riomaggiore (or whichever) and leaving it in your room will work (assuming that your hotel is not too far uphill or downhill from the train station ;-) ). But if you don't spend the night, note that according to the same website that I listed above, that only Monterosso has Left Luggage facilities.

Hi, I'm from near la spezia, no boxes but there's a storage office where you can leave your luggage and then pay for the time you stored them, it's inside the La Spezia Central Station,
Have a nice and pleasant stay, if you need infos feel free to contact me!

Google's Translator is a tremendous help when dealing with other than a native language. The URL that follows is an example. If the like doesn't work.

http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.trenitalia.com%2Fit%2F1f5be2a3ded1b010VgnVCM10000045a2e90aRCRD.shtml&langpair=it%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF8

If the like doesn't work, go to:

http://www.google.com/language_tools?hl=en

Or select "Language Tools" from google.com
La Spezia Center & Monterosso appear to have "Left Luggage" office.
I'll find out for myself this October.
