| Yangshuo | Yangshuo in January Posted: Thu May 5, 2005 09:16 AM UTC
I´m planning to go to Yangshuo in the beginning of January
next year. Does anybody have any experience about visiting Yangshuo at that time of the year? I would be very grateful if You could give me some information, for example, the river boats starting from Yangshuo and around, are the operating in winter too, or just during the busy season? |

Hi!
Been there in March/April, can be quite cold - Maybe May is already better. During that time the water level is quite low, so you have to use smaller boats, which are actually much more fun - maybe six people. You can organize these trips in every hostel. They normally start from Xingping, close to Yangshuo. I would certainly recommend a bike tour on your own through these beautiful karst mountains - 5 to 10 Kuai a day. Another intersting thing is floating down the Jinbao, a small branch of the Li River - everything is so quiet, no tourist hooking, no hello shouting - really relaxing. For food try some beerfish - supposed to be a regional specialty!

cold cold mate.
In December it's usually quite soft still, but then Jan/Feb/March things are really cooling down. The good thing is that it will be quiet, not many tourists and prices go down. Later on in Spring the rains will set in. At about June things are looking up again, and the river will be full of water. I'd say the best time to go is in Oktober (after the first week!) and November. Quiet, warm, beautiful. Dajiang
