Doolin Doolin Activity Lodge
Posted: Mon March 17, 2003 05:29 PM UTC
Has anybody heard of the Doolin Activity Lodge? Recommendations or information on prices etc. would be most appreciated. We have sent them an e-mail but we expect they either out looking for leprechauns or wetting their shamrocks on St. Patrick's Day..... so while we are waiting we would be grateful for anybody's input! Thanks in advance!

Can't remember it, but Doolin is a top little town. A B&B there cost around 15-20Punts for us back in 2000. it overlooked the town as you drive in. The pubs there are really cosy, and they serve a great Guiness!

They charge a bit more than the standard B&B at the DAL but the place is quite nice. You'll love it - both the lodge and the district!

Thanks for the replies! We've booked the DAL (it's a birthday present from me to Kitsy, so we'll pay the extra EUR 2!)
Lochlainn: Your pages were extremely entertaining and informative. All I need now is a knitting needle and we should be set for our trip!

Thought you might like to know..I stayed at DAL last week.
We had a self-catering apartment which was really well equipped, clean and very warm and cosy..lovely.
Nial and Deidre were charging 50euros per night and you could still have breakfast provided, at an additional charge, if you didn't want to self-cater after a late night!
Everyone was so friendly and the local pubs all had live music going on past 1 a.m!
Be warned, though, the roads twist and wind through the countryside and are full of potholes so allow plenty of time to get to places.
Unfortunately, being so early in the year, we found most places were closed and we weren't able to get over to the Arran Isles but it's such an interesting area and the people are so welcoming, it was worth going just for the 'craic'!
Have a fantastic time.

Regards,
Tina.
