There are some boat tours that you can take out on the Loch from the boat dock/pier at Fort William. We enjoyed one that took us out to see some seals and also some salmon fishery. Also, there is a pedestrian area with some shopping and an interesting old museum. Just outside of town is a brewery where you can see a couple of those wooly cows. We used Fort William as a home base and took road trips to Maillag, Skye, and Inverness.

Ft William is a great place to base yourself to be able to see many sights that will interest both adults and children.

Most kids have seen at least one of the Harry Potter movies and it would be fun for them to see the actual locations that were used in the movies. Also the bridge that was used in the movie Rob Roy is just a short distance away, and, if it is a warm day then you could actually swim in the witch's cauldron that is underneath the waterfall there. You can find these sights and directions to them if you go into "Scotland in the Movies" in your go line.

Easy to go to Skye, to Glen Coe, down to Oban for a day, or even up to see "Nessie". Ft William also has a Mc Tavishes that has "Scottish Night" with music and song and dance along with dinner that would be fun for the whole family.

The war memorial, Ft. Augustus with the locks, and many different boat rides are readily available.

You should have no problem at all filling your days with wonderful experiences.
