Oberstdorf Touring around Orbersdorf

The family and I will be in Obersdorf for a week early July. Apart from hiking, is there anything else to do around there? It looks like it's at the end of the line. Thanks.

they have a page "when it rains"
http://www.oberstdorf.de/index.shtml?regenwettertipps
(however only in German)

The King's castles in Füssen and Lake Constance are both approx. 1 hour from Oberstdorf. Legoland Germany is approx. 2 hours.

Hi,
first of all you are right, it is the end of Germany :))) Just very few kilometers to Austria. And those poor people in the valley south west of Oberstdorf have to cross Germany to get into the main part of their country with a driving distance of about 50 kilometers...

In case of the cases I recommend of course to have a look at Kempten, my current home. Also nice and bigger is Ulm, it is a pretty town and has the highest churchtower worldwide I think. You can go up there... In Ottobeuren (need a car), which is between Kempten and Ulm, there is a really pretty church as part of a monestry. If going to some place by train ask for 'Bayernticket' or 'Schönes Wochenende Ticket'. The latter one is for the weekend. These tickets are good if you are more than one person (up to 5), but only valid for regional trains, which are almost all leaving from Oberstdorf, so no problem.
As proposed before the Lake Constance is not far, with Lindau on the side towards Oberstdorf, see my tiny Lindau-page. Füssen is nice and can also be visited with bad weather. In case you like swimming, there is a nice pool in Sonthofen, which is half the way between Kempten and Oberstdorf.
Well, hopefully the weather will be fine than. But as we say there is never bad weather, but bad clothes.... :))) Just take care in case of thunder and lighting when planning to go to the mountains!!! Check the weather forcast!
Keep in touch! Questions? Don't hesitate! Christian.
