family debate because of hazy memories:
Is Bern pronounced as in "bearn" (as in its famous bear mascot) or does it sound like "burn" (as in on fire) ?? thanks! |

how is "bearn" pronounced? :s
(btw, IMHO bern sounds pretty much like burn...but I reckon it's clear my english pronunciation is quite poor)

It depends whether you are speaking English or German. After all, Paris is pronounced differently, depending on whether you are speaking English or French.
