| Miri | boat trip from Miri to mulu Posted: Wed April 27, 2005 02:34 AM UTC
Hi, has anyone got any advice for travelling by boat from Miri to Mulu Caves? We'll be staying at the Royal Mulu Resort.
I know I should go to Kuala Baram, then catch a boat to Marudi, then to Long Terawan. Is Marudi ok to stay overnight in? Are there many chartered longboats at Long Terawan? Is it hard to get one? I have considered flying both ways, rather than taking the boat one way. Is it worth catching the boat??? |

Thats what I wanted to do, fly in one way and take boat out.... but I ended up flying back out as well... its quite dangerous if you do not have a confirm ticket out as the ticketing office in Mulu doesn't really exist, you have to make your reservation in Miri. But you can try to hop on the twin otter which I got on, standby... very lucky.
But I did check the price to charter a boat out Long Terawan, it cost almost like the plane fair...!!!! so you will have your share of river ride to the caves so I am not sure if you want to take the ride back out unless you are really in to river rides... :) Have fun. Cheers, Loen
