I'm going to create a site about my home-region - Nenets Autonomous okrug (North-West of Russia). But before I start I'd like to ask if there anybody who is interested in learning information about this topic and what could be particular questions to be discribed on the site. Yes, I like to know more. VT offers the possibility to chart every spot on this earth and you might be the Nenets-"expert". Please supply the transportation, accomodation, shopping, must see-info. Add some general info and pictures and it will become a great page.

Thanks a lot for the comments. I hope I'll be able to create a site within two-three weeks and then every person will be able to learn about this remote part of Russia (I mean from Moscow) with beautiful natural places and friendly people. The main purpose of my site is to promote the tourism to the Nenets Okrug which is very interesting to visit. More details later. Jury

I've never been to Russia but am positive that initiatives like yours promote a country or place in a very special and effective way. I'll be looking forward to seing your page on Nenets (wherever the place is).

Of course, I am interested in Nenets. I too live in the north part of my country. The further north, the better I like it. If you have nay animals photos--that is good. If not, please tell us about the local customs of the people in your area.

It'll be fascinating to know how people live the same manner as their ancestors lived in 12-13 centures.

It would be a real trip back in time, you may have to guide us each and every step, from how to get there, getting around, and the best way to really get to know your home region and the Nenets.

Yes, that was Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. Just goes to show that some out-of-the-way places might have funny customs, but I met there some of the friendliest people on my travels. Even the animals were friendly LOL

I'm really shocked by the number of people who is interested in learning more about my home-region. YES! Now I have to analize all the information and will try to do my best to make the page with photos very soon. I must also ask your pardon in advance as I have not very advanced digital camera so the picture's quality might be not very nice. I work as a manger in one of the oil companies here so I have not much time for site right now, but I'll try by the end of this week make a report with photos about the visit of foreigner from Sweden to our town - Narjan-Mar. He is coming on Monday. I promise my site will be often updated, very entertainment and informational. Thanks all of you for the help!!!!

Yes, you can make everything with your cloth in the Nenets Okrug, but I would not recommend you to get undressed on Sunday because today we have about -15 degrees.

Jury, are you still in Naryan Mar? I am interested bcs I am looking to adopt from the orphanage there, and can seem to find very little information. I am also thinking about inquiring with the director and whoever else the possibility of just coming to "help" in whatever way necessary before I initiate any adoption. It is so difficult to find information on this region. Any help you can offer would be most welcome. Spasiba!
