| Ko Tao | Travel in June for old couple Posted: Mon April 25, 2005 05:59 PM UTC
Not really but not back packers. My wife and I are considering Koh Tao for 2 weeks in early June am a bit concered about reports of Mossies fever etc. Main aim of holiday is to chill out and dive/snorkel. looking at Coral Grand Resort but not sure if a bit basic for our requirements we would like 5 star, have looked at Anikara? resort but costing out at about £50 (3400tbht) each a night Coral Grand £25 (1700)a night.
Any tips etc appreciated. Ray |

Coral Grand should be fine, Koh Tao is really just for snorkeling and scuba diving, there is little else but if that is of intertest you should have nice time.

Thanks for your reply, scuba and snorkeling is what we were looking for, my main problem now is the reports of insect, mozzies are they as bad as people make out or is it just a few- in my case one is too much as I get eaten alive by mozzies even in UK .
How bad are they?

I've stayed on both Samui and Koh Tao and didn't suffer from loads of mossie bites. It's not like Africa where I had to cake myself in Mossie Guard to protect me from getting bitten. You should be fine but take a few cans of mossie spray just in case.
Koh Tao is a good choice for diving/snorkelling/chilling out. Lots of good dive sites for both novice and experienced divers. The boats/equipment for diving were fine and the dive masters were good. Any other queries let me know.

Thanks for that, I tend to read forums and forget it is only a couple of peoples views.
