RE: Mara Simba Lodge... Posted: Wed June 15, 2005 02:22 AM UTC
I have not stayed at that lodge, but any place in Massai Mara is well located as per game viewing. They take you out in safasri vans twice a day as a general rule, so you should have plenty of photo ops. You might ask your agency about the frequency of safari trips.
The wildlife generally does not frequent the lodges, but one night I awoke to find a hippopotamus and her calf grazing noisily on the brush beneath my bedroom window! (We were housed in separate little cabins, cleverly designed to fit in with the landscape, and there was a river down below us....evidently that is where the hippos came from!) Alas, I dared not try to take a picture, as there was an electric light out there and the cow would have been able to see me. And we must never underestimate the speed of an avenging mother!
The only creatures there in the daytime were the hyrax..a friendly and cute rodent.
