Oxford Pub work in Oxford Dec/Jan 2005/6
Posted: Tue April 19, 2005 05:34 PM UTC
Three friends and myself are university students from South Africa and will be staying in Eynsham (near oxford)for roughly 2 months over Dec/jan. And are looking to work in Pubs in oxford (or near by) while we are there. But not physically being in the UK makes looking for jobs really difficult, so if any body knows of any pubs that need staff over the winter months could they please let me know! So if you could give me contact details of pubs or advice on how to go about looking for pub work, even though im not in the country it would be GREATLY appreciated! :)

I think it would be very difficult to arrange this type of work in advance. There are loads of pubs in oxford and your best bet would be to try for work once you arrive. If you don't get pub work, there are lots of cafes, resturants, etc, which regularly hire staff on short-term basis.

Hi there
i work in the pub and resturant trade in oxford, and its almost impossible to get a job in oxford due to new strick employment laws! you need to have a british insurenece number ( very hard to get ) and a British bank account!!! and the right working visas ( they wont even look at you without them) !
having said that i know that the younges bars to employee travelers and supply living quarters too (however theses are given to couples mostly)
try www.youngs.co.uk
good luck
