| Haarlem | Questions About Haarlem Posted: Wed March 12, 2003 06:20 PM UTC
Hello! Here are my questions:
1. To get to Haarlem from Schipol airport, do we take a bus or a train? Does anyone know how long this takes? 2. Anyone know if there are lockers or luggage check at the Haarlem train station or VVV next door? I was hoping to head to Amsterdam after my day in Haarlem, and I'd hate to have to go back to the airport for my stuff. 3. Can anyone tell me if they know of anything going on in town on Saturday the 26th? I know the big flower parade is coming to town that night, but I'll be gone by then. I'm hoping there are festivities during the day, though. Any suggestions or website urls to info? Any info would be MOST apprecited. This is a great forum! Thanks so much & have a good one! 1. Easiest is to take bus 300, which leaves right outside the arrivals hall. I believe at platform B2. Take it into the direction of Haarlem. The bus goed every 10 minutes and takes about 35-40 minutes. You can also take the train into the direction of Amsterdam Centraal. Get out at Amsterdam Sloterdijk and transfer to the train to Haarlem.
2. Yes there are lockers to store your luggage. However keep in mind that the train station is closed at night!! 3. There is a VT meeting organised by Sandravdp and me, check the e-mail I sent you for more. Have fun in Haarlem!! Martin

BTW if you're going back home after you've been to Amsterdam it's best to take your luggage with you and put in a locker there! From Amsterdam trains only take 15 minutes to the Airport. Otherwise you first have to get back to Haarlem, which also takes 15 minutes and then the bus, which takes up another 35 minutes.

Thanks, man!
Any idea when the train station closes? I know, I know... so many questions, heheeh We figure we'll be leaving Haarlem around 14:00 - 15:00 Saturday, should we have any problems getting to our lockers? Our plan is to come from the airport to Haarlem on Friday, stay the night, take our luggage to the train station to meet w/ friends who are arriving Saturday morning. We'll store our luggage, head back to town, play/party/etc. for a bit, and then walk back to the trainstation to head into Amsterdam for a week or so. Sound good?! I hope so!! If not, back to the drawing board.... hehe Thanks!! Looking forward to your email!! Carolyn

Sounds good yes. The trainstation closes at about 1.30 am.so you shouldn't have any problems with storing the luggage then :o)

I was thinking of maybe going to the Keukenhof in Lisse. I've never been there, and it's nice to inhale some fresh air after a long night ;o)

The Flower Parade is on April 26 (not March 26!). For lockers and busses at Schiphol goto: http://www.virtualtourist.com/m/2f01c/6fbd0/1/#T

Seems like we've got the 'day after' planned then! It's an about 15 minutes drive from Haarlem to Keukenhof, so we can sleep in for a long time!!!
