| Guam | St. John's School, Guam Posted: Sat April 16, 2005 08:06 PM UTC
I am a teacher trying to make a decision whether St. John's School in Guam is the place I would like to work at for the next 2-4 years. Any information about the school would be appreciated, for example, academic reputation.

Hi ... school webmaster here ... you can try emailing others at the school -- probably would be biased - for and against - but it's worth a shot. :)

As an Alumnus I am very biased, but it is the best private school on Guam, if not the best school on Guam, period. Great location, great campus, and strong academic focus. The campus has good library facilities, computer lab, and new gym. The best/brightest on the island generally attend here.

St. John's has a reputation for high academics. However, most people consider it more of a status symbol for the rich spoiled kids who can afford $12,000 a year. They often give scholarships to top performing students from the public school which artificially busts their overall scores. Location is not idea for a school--it's on a cliff next to a busy road but does have a view. If you like “those kinds of students” then it’s for you. Come on out.
