Wedding in Moab

My girlfriend and I are going to a wedding in Moab and will have one day beforehand to explore the area. We're driving from Grand Junction, CO, and hope to see some of Utah's beautiful scenery. We would like to see some of Arches and Canyonlands national parks and any suggestions for a scenic drive in that area with maybe a couple of short hikes would be appreciated. Thanks, Dave

An off the beaten path idea I can give you is to drive Utah Route 128 along the Colorado River. Great scenery with the cliffs hanging along the river and the nearby LaSal Mountains. Arches NP is definitely a must see. Many hiking opportunities in Arches NP.

If you see nothing else get to Dead Horse Point state park just by the entrance to Canyonlands National Park

Come in to Moab on the 128 and pause to view this optical illusion

Have a drive aound Arches and take some of the shorter hikes

Do the Island in the Sky section of Canyonlands National Park. It is an easy drive to some fantastic overlooks. Also do Arches National Park. It is a compact park that you can see a lot of in a half day. Delicate Arch was our favorite arch. Also, visit Dead Horse Point State Park. All three a doable in a day, but start early!

Thanks for the very useful info. We drove to Moab on 128 and were able to spend time in Arches NP but unfortunately ran out of time to see Deadhorse Point or anything in Canyonlands NP. Thanks again, Dave
