| Magdeburg | One day in Magdeburg... Posted: Sun April 10, 2005 10:13 AM UTC
I will visit Magdeburg on next Saturday. Is it possible to cover all the sights in one day by walking from Bahnhof? What are the not-to-be-missed sights? Seems I can't really find much infos from the travel guides. So hope you guys can give me some tips...

I worked in Magdeburg for a couple of weeks. It's not really a touristy place. Most of the orginal city was destroyed by British bombers during World War II. The town square and cathedral are about all that remains of the old town. Most of the city is utilitarian, East German apartment blocks. As I recall, the most famous resident was the composer Telemann, who played the otgan in the cathedral there. You definitely wouldn't need more than a day to see its sites.
