| Prefecture of Chios | Unique accomodations? Posted: Sun April 10, 2005 03:51 AM UTC
There isn't much info. on the accomodations on Chios. Are there guesthouses or other unique accomodations? How about some hotels with some local charm?

Hi Again,
We didn't stay overnight but I can give you some information. My Fodor's book actually has lots of info. on Chios. Lodging, Fodors Star, Villa Argentiko, "Greece's classiest bed-and- Breakfast. Golden Sand, hotel on beach Fedra, inexpensive alternative to expensive hotels in town. Kyma, Villa completed in 1922. Fodors Star, Traditional Settlements, medieval fortified houses built into the maze of Mesta Village. If you would like more information you can email me. Mike

Fodor's also lists another place of stay that sounds interesting.
Village Houses, "meticulous restoration of 11 medium-size houses, preserving where possible, such vernacular touches as unworked tree trunks supporting a sleeping loft!, Yet all modern conveniences are present, and the units, designed for two to five people, have fully equipped kitchens, a large bathrooom and a terrace with sweeping views. very inexpensive. Hope this helps.

Thanks, some of these sound great. We should have as much time as we want to explore Chios and possibly Rhodes.

Rhodes is very nice but also very touristy. Chios has fewer tourists and is much cheaper. They have a high speed hydrofoil that leaves Marmaris to Rhodes, it is a short ride and a easy trip for the day.
Check out my Travel Page on Dalyan if you want a very cool place to visit. One of my favorite places in Turkey. Mike

If you are in luck you can watch the turtles laying eggs at Turtle Beach in Dayan.
