Minorca Island Travel Forum

We are visiting Santo Tomas early September this year. It is our first trip abroad for some five years. We are staying at the Mestral Llebeig Apartments and will be hiring a car to explore.
Any information on the resort, accommodation or recommendations for places to eat, things to do would be great.

We stayed in menorca a few times and once in Santo Tomas.We stayed in a villa on the main Road...it was nice.We are a family with two young children,so it was nice.Would be a little quiet for singles.We use to enjoy going for a walk along the coastal path in the evening.There is a restaurant along this path which is associated with one of the big hotels.We used to enjoy a meal there and if you go late...circa 9pm...a band comes on (Huracan) which are a bit of fun.
i also liked the cafe on the beach at the roundabout just as you enter the town.If you go past the cafe along the beach fo about 5 mins you come to another quiet stretch of beach which is nice.
We used to get a bit fed up of being in a resort for the evening and, although we had a hire car,we would get a bus into Es Mijorn Gran..go to a Spanish Restaurant..then Spanish Bar...then taxi back.That was good fun.Chic restaurant is lovely....you might have to ask where it is...but it has a lovely area/garden out back which is very relaxing.
Go in to Mahon which is lovely and also check out the lovely Es Castell beside Mahon.There is a godd horse show on Tuesday and Thursday evenings (I think) on the road to Cala Galdana just past Ferreries.
Spend some time exploring the towns along the main road...theya re very pretty when you go into them rather than just driving by.
We normally have to leave our villas early on the last day.To keep cool and occupy ourselves we usually spend the last day in the LLadro factory / Park on the main Cituadella to Mahon road.It has good food,good gift shop for getting last minute gifts and good things for the kids (Pool ,crazy golf etc.)Whats more is they dont rip you off...you can spend a day here ...cheap.

I might be rambling too much...better go...oh go up to Es Toro too...highest point on the island...church there too.
