Iquitos Travel Forum

I think I have decided on going to Iquitos and doing various 1-2 excursions into "la selva" instead of the originally planned, Pucallpa to Iquitos via boat. I have been hearing that being tied down to the boat for 5 days just isnt worth it and you dont see much.

In any case, I would also like to visit and/or volunteer at some medical clinics while in Iquitos --- anyone have any experience with this?

So far, I know of a great clinic about 50 km down river which I would like to visit (http://www.amazonmedical.org/#top) - any others?

Get in contact with explorama lodge, they sponsor a clinic somewhere near the napo river and take all there guests there for a look. It is very expensive to stay at Explorama.
