Can anybody suggest the must visit places in Gangtok?Willing to see the rural life,lake,monasteries,garden and ppl..

I see that you have multiple questions in multiple postings. I will try respond to all combined in one.
Travel facility from Darjeeling to Gangtok ------------------------------------------ Yes, you will find many taxis (on seat sharing basis) as well as buses going directly from Darjeeling to Gangtok every hour. I guess it should be about 4.5 hours journey. It is advised to book the entire car as you can make pauses along the way as you like to enjoy the beautiful nature.And its not very expensive. Night rides are also possible, but I would recommend you not to do it. You will also miss the scenery along the Teesta river. transport mode from Calcutta to Darjeeling ------------------------------------------ 3 options: --------- Flight to Bagdogra ( 45 minutes) and then car/bus to Darjeeling (night ride not possible in this case) Train to NJP (New Jalpaiguri) and then car/bus to Dajeeling. You can take the Darjeeling Mail from Kolkatta to NJP,. It is an overnight journey. Overnight bus (very comfortable ROCKET Buses) from Kolkatta to Siliguri and then CAr/Bus to Darjeeling. You can also take the Toy Train from Siliguri to Darjeeling, but it takes about 7-8 hours. Recommended is that you take the Toy train ride from Ghoom to Darjeeling (about 1 hours), but do not miss a ride on this World Heritage train. flights from Gangtok to chennai ------------------------------- Unfortunately not. You will have to come down to Bagdogra Airport (near Siliguri) and take flights from there, probably via Kolkatta. Any travel agent in Chennai can help you out. Places to visit in Gangtok -------------------------- Tshangu Lake is a must. Also visit the Rumtek Monastary, though it is far away from Gangtok. One day is too less , I think.

Thank u Bimal for ur help..Its very useful for me to know abt the northeast parts of india where i hve never been but heard a lot abt their natural beauty..Planning to visit WB and sikkim in near future..Wish to know more abt u.
