Forum Question Posted By: Replies:
Garda Public transportation from Verona airport to Sirmione (Columbare)?
Posted: Wed April 6, 2005 10:04 PM UTC
Hi!

I guess this is a similar question to Jayne's (see the other question).

We are planning to make a trip to Sirmione, and more precisely, to Columbare, where we are staying at the Mirabello hotel (Via XXV Aprile, 100 - 25019 Sirmione). What is the best way to get to our hotel from Verona airport?

This far I've given these options:
1) A shuttle service from the airport to Verona town, where transfer to a direct bus to Sirmione?
2) A shuttle.., where transfer to a train to Desenzano, and then a taxi to Sirmione?
3) A taxi from the airport to Sirmione?

Which of these three options is the best one, and what is the cost?
Do you have any ideas where to look for the schedules and rates?
Have you any extra options on top of these three mentioned?

All the answers will be highly appreciated!
Thanks!

Greetings from Finland!

take the bus to the station and just in front you can find the bus station.

Could you help me in searching for the right timetables and rates concerning my trip from Verona to Sirmione? (time of departure, bus line, price, etc.)?

Thanks!

Grazie Francesco!

I checked the website you suggested and found it amazing that the lowest price is only 20 Euros:

"Prices starting from 20 Euros per person to/from the Verona and Brescia airports. Prices starting from 30 Euros per person to/from the Bergano airport."

Are these prices really the final prices and not including any extra fees? Do you think it'll cost 20 Euros/person from the airport to Sirmione?

Is the service reliable - have you used it? Do they take you from the airport to your hotel?

Thanks again!
Timo

Sorry i don't know the service, only found on the web for you.
But, hey, if the price shown is that, they can have problems asking more.
After all, Sirmione isn't that far from the verona Catullo airport.
If you are 3, maybe a taxi many not coast more... (but ask the price before making a deal)
The problem of public tarsport is that the public Verona Bus Company (APTV) does not run to Sirmione (the Verona province ends s few Km before, being peschiera the last town in its territory). The Train stops either in Peschiera del garda (the town before) or in Desenzano (the town after). From Desenzano there will be a BUS for sure (Le Colombare are at the beginning of the Sirmione paeninsula) but, hey, it would be the 3rd leg of your trip, for max 40 km if driving directly!
Ciao

Ciao Boris...
è raro "trovarti in castagna", di solito sai tutto!

Don't mess-up with airport names!
CATULLO = Verona Villafranca (international VRN)
G. D'ANNUNZIO = Brescia Ghedi ( VBS )
(Both managed from the same company, but a few Km apart)

Ciao, e a presto!
