Does anyone have any recommendations for a good hotel in Fez that is likely to have other backpackers? This will be my first taste of Morocco and would like a clean and safe environment that I can use as a kick off for the rest of my trip.

I can't remember the name of it, but it's easy to find. When you get to Fes have a taxi take you to the "Porte Bleu" of the old walled medina. Just inside the gate on the right, just past the small cafe is a door to an upstairs hotel. I stayed there. It was full of backpackers. Cheap.
