Most of the postings are about outdoors, deep and horseback, and train rides. I was curious if anyone knows about the city life and its nigtlife?
thanks

The biggest city in Mongolia is Ulaanbaatar with over 800 thousands population. Night life in Ulaanbaatar is not as busy as in bigger cities throughout the world. Pubs and night clubs close their door by midnight. Rest of the time the city stays in silence.

The night life is brilliant in UB. It's wonderfully kitschy, and most bars/nightclubs play Abba, Smokey and Boney M and occasionally Kylie. I lived there for 4.5 years and have never gone out quite so much. Beer is good, vodka cheap.

My favourite times were in a small and sleazy nightclub called the Ginza down by the Circus.

Food is good and cheap. The best Indian restaurant in town is Taj Mahal which has just moved into the Bayangol Hotel.
