hi,i believe my mothers surname came from a place called o'tarpaigh.in sligo.her name was tarpey,a good ancient irish name by all accounts.does this place exist to this day.

I've got a good map of sligo here.. When I had a quick look through it I couldn't find a place called like that. But maybeit is still there and you just have to have a closer look.. Good luck, and hopefully this will help ya =) Luv, Julia

I did some research many years ago and found the town of Tarpaigh on a very old map in a very old book. I haven't found it since. It was inland near Roscommon.
