Īle des Pins Best time of the year to go
Posted: Fri April 1, 2005 03:40 PM UTC
Hi

Can anyone post an opinion about this island?
My husband has a fixation on it since he came across some pictures on a travel magazine.
We would take the kids along (5 and 13).
Worth to go or better to choose another island on the Pacific?
Thanks

We went there a few years ago in January and it is absolutely beautiful. Its not very big though and apart from swimming and relaxing there is nothing much else to do. (Not that I have anything against swimming and relaxing).

I went on a Pacific Sky cruise in January last year and of the four places we stopped at the Ile des Pins was my farourite. This isle was absolutely wonderful. I have a travel page on it so take a look. I am about to update it actually. Ile des Pins seems to me to be a destination yet to be fully discovered and appreciated. It is I think very expensive and only visited by the rich. On VT there are only 3/4 of us who have actually visited this beautiful place. It is relatively undiscoverd. That is to say it has not been over commercialised so if you can, see it now before the word gets out and it is ruined. The locals only speak French. Where we landed off the ship there were no buildings just the most beautiful beach and water. The local women came down and set up makeshift stalls to sell their homecooked food and fruits. There were men with dug out canoes made into cateramanns to take you on trips round the harbour! The bay on the other side was just like stepping into a travel brochure!! This island really is the most spectacular place. I only wish I could have stayed longer! Email me if you need to know more. I would be glad to help!

Thanks!
I will contact if we decide to go. In the meantime I“ll chk your page.
As he just started a new job 2 days ago, we are not sure when we will be able to have 2-3 weeks off. It“s too far for less than that.
