Me again always posting..

So am getting into Bangkok late on Thursday night. Planning to take up lodging in Mangphul Mansion, but being young and wide awake at night would like to visit Khao San for nightlife.. are these very far apart? What would a typical cab fare between the two run me? What should I say to a driver to get me from point A to B?

Which of these areas is easier to get to the airport from? and on a Sunday morning about how much time should I allow to get to the airport?

My experience with the predominantly foreign district while living in Seoul is that you lose out on the opportunity to see local lifestyle (thus I live across the river and a good ride away), but travelling alone I don't mind the company while out with other travellers. Will be in Bangkok March 31st (late)thru morning of April 3rd if anyone would like to meet up.

Hey there...

Assume that you mean "Muangphol Mansion" that is close to Siam Square & MBK.

If this is the place, then it would take about 30 minutes to get to Khao San Road by taxi (depending on traffic). It costs between THB 80.00 to THB 100.00 per way. You can also take the "tuk tuk", but you have to negotiate the price with the driver (if your negotiation skills are really good, then you can make it to Khao San at THB 50.00!)

Just tell the taxi / tuk tuk driver "Thanon Khao San" and they will take you there. However, be careful that these drivers do not take you for a joy ride because the roads in that area are mostly one way and if they take the wrong turn, then they have to go in circles and start over again.

As for the distance to / from the airport from these two (2) areas, it is about the same. Both places are easy access to the express way that will take you to the airport.

If your flight is early Sunday morning, then it should be no problem as the traffic is not bad on Sundays. It should take you about 40 mins. to get to the airport (from both areas) assuming the taxi driver takes both the express way (THB 40.00) and toll way (THB 30.00) - these additional will have to be paid by you.

Hope this helps and welcome to Thailand!

Happy Travels!
