| San Gimignano | Transport to/from San Gimignano Posted: Sat March 26, 2005 04:44 PM UTC
I'm planning to stay in San Gimignano later in the year, flying to Pisa. Would also like to re-visit Siena, just for the day.
Do not want to drive. Any ideas on buses/trains Pisa to SG and SG to Siena? |

www.trenitalia.com will give you all the information you need on how to get to the places you list by train. It looks like you'll change in Empoli if you go from Pisa to San Gimignano - oh, actually, if you pick up the train at the airport, you may or may not change trains at Pisa Centrale (5 minutes from the airport) - some trains from the airport do go through to Empoli.

San Gimignano is a place forgotten by railways. The closest station is in Poggibonsi, on the Empoli-Siena railway. There are direct trains from Florence, but if you come from Pisa you will have to change trains at Empoli.
I found this site, http://www.sangimignano.net/bus/ , which lists buses to San Gimignano from Poggibonsi.
