| Boa Vista | Buying a canoe and outboard motor Posted: Thu March 6, 2003 05:55 AM UTC
Can anyone tell me if it is easy enough to buy a large canoe (4-5 person) in or around Boa Vista?

I bought a smaller canoe in Pangoa, Peru (check my Sepahua pages for info on the whole adventure) to row downriver... we ended up covering about 500 KM by our selves.
Anyway, if I had to do it all over again... try to sell a boat first to get the actual price. Tell a local that you have a boat to sell to get the accurate price. We ended up paying about twice as much as a canoe is worth. It's ok, it was still cheaper then hiring a guide and a boat :). Plus it was more fun. Have fun and take care, Fernando PS: get a good topographical map of where you're going.
