Antigua and Barbuda Catamaran Cruise choices
Posted: Mon March 21, 2005 03:07 PM UTC
Does anyone have any information specifically on the Wadadli Cats and Kokomo catamaran cruises to Green Island and Shirley Heights? I'll be staying at Jolly Beach and I read where pick up is on the beach and then you pick up other passengers at their resorts before you really begin the cruise. I sometimes get seasick ....or is the trip broken up enough to avoid too much rocky motion? I'm interested in some snorkeling for part of the cruise which I think you do at Green Island and eat lunch there too? Are the Triple or Quad Destination cruises these 2 companies offer worth the $100? Or would you suggest driving yourself to Shirley Heights and taking another type of cruise (less than a full day) elsewhere?

Can't speak to the choice of catamaran cruises... but, can tell you about Shirley Heights. You may want to drive to it in addition to boat travel... Every Sunday afternoon, and well into the evening (at least as of 5 years ago), locals and tourists gather up on Shirley Heights - to party and watch the sun set into the ocean. The view is good - Nelson's dockyard is below. There is music - steel drum, raggae, calypso, etc., and lots of good food. A must, if you are in Antigua on a Sunday.

I've reviewed this trip on my Antigua pages if you want to take a look.

Take a look at the Barbuda trip too on the Excellence Catamaran - amazing beaches over there, but a fairly choppy ride. (I found it fun but if you get seasick............)

I didn't think much of the snorkelling on the Wadadli trip. Probably didn't help that it was a cloudy day though. The lunch is delclious!

By the time we got the Shirley Heights we felt a tad 'icky' - we'd been in and out of the sea all day, a tiny bit sun burnt, hair was knotted etc. So we spent a couple of hours at Shirely heights and that was fine for us. We went to soak up the atmosphere rather than to party though.
We like to pack all the culture and sightseeing we can into one trip to give us more time relax at the hotel (without thinking we've come all this way and haven't seen any of antigua).
