I'm looking at a boat in Chignik,a 42' x 14' seiner.Plan on running it up to kodiak to make sure everthing is in top shape then run to Sitka and from there to Seattle.Does anyone know the approximate distance and when would the weather be best? Thanks for any info,Brian

Brian,
Made the same run in the opposite direction in a 60' river tug many years back. It's about 1000 NM from Kodiak to Sitka. Weather is definately the issue. Summer is best, of course - August least stormy. Problem lies in lack of decent forecast beyond 3 days and the chances of getting caught mid-gulf when a storm picks up. We hugged the coast with stops along the way, so the longest run in open seas was Yakutat to Cordova (about 200NM).
