| Heiligenblut | Hiking opportunities on the Grossglocknerstrasse? Posted: Fri March 11, 2005 11:47 AM UTC
Would someone describe the opportunities for a short hike near the highest road elevation of this beautiful road, and the chances of getting a sandwich and beer
nearby? Thanks! |

Hi,
No idea about the hiking its something I would like to try as well. As for the sandwich and beer there are several cafes, restaurants, snack bars along the highest point of the road. Remember the road is only open for part of the year, may to november I think. Doug

Hi Doug..Thanks for the helpful response. My trip is planned for late August, so I think the road will be open, save for an unexpected snowstorm..not unheard of in those mountains!

The road is beautiful, I have been to Heiligenblut, but the National Park and the villages on the mountains are much more beautiful. On the street there are
many cars as well, would not be so nice to walk, as far as I know. Best regards.
