| Ephesus | Atilla's Getaway and other Selcuk hostels Posted: Tue March 8, 2005 04:13 PM UTC
Hullo All,
Just wondering if anyone can offer advice on hostels in Selcuk, near Ephesus, Turkey. I'm debating staying at either Atilla's Gateway or the Artemis Guesthouse. I've read conflicting reviews of Atilla's, ones which say it was the best hostel ever, and others which say it was the worst. Has anyone who's actually stayed there got an opinion, and why do you think that? Also, anyone who's ever stayed at Artemis Guesthouse have an opinion on it? Thank you SO much to anyone who responds! I have never stayed at Atilla's but I stayed at Artemis Guesthouse in summer 2003. It has got everything a backpacker needs and a little bit more.
There is a travel library with lots of info about all Turkey, a book exchange, Internet (2,5 million), laundry service, a swimming pool where there are barbeques (6 million) some evenings, a big choice of breakfast (3 million) served in the courtyard and a free lift to Ephesus at 9 o'clock every morning. In Ephesus you can join the free guided tour. You still pay 15 000 000 TL to the guide for the entrance fee (and they pay the price for groups - my ticket said 50% discount). The guesthouse also has their own carpet shop nextdoor. The rooms are nice and clean and have a shower and toilet. I paid 15 000 000 TL for my room (breakfast not included). There are also rooms with AC and bath for 30 000 000 TL. It's a good place to meet other travellers at and to exchange experiences. Everything is available in the guesthouse but one should not forget to go out and see Selcuk, visit the shops and eat at the restaurants. If I was going to visit Selcuk again I would probably look for a smaller family run pension.

hallo Laura
when are you planning to go? OR have you already gone? I have the same question and would like to know if you solved it. I am staying in one of them at the end of next week.

Atilla's Getaway is teh best place to stay in Selcuk, Lovely atmosphere, chill out relaxing place for all. It is a family run backpackers resort answers all the needs of the guests. Food is excellent and you can find vegimite at the breakfast. It is only 2 km away to the town and 1 km away to thE ephesus and they provide free shuttle services to the town and Ephesus. They have a pool table and table tennis and voleyball court available. You can have your cocktail by the swimming pool. 81 Bar is on your serve all the time. Staff very friendly and they make sure that you are having a great time. Travel desk provides useful information about Turkey , things to do etc. You wouldnt want toleave but stay longer even though Selcuk is not a place to stay long. Atilla's Getaway is the part of the heaven's garden. :)
