Aguas Calientes - Machupicchu Lodging in Machu Picchu?
Posted: Fri March 4, 2005 02:38 PM UTC
Hello all!

We (my family) are traveling to Machu Picchu in mid March and spending one night in either Machu Picchu or Aguas Calientes. Is it cheaper to make a reservation prior to arrival or to find a room once we get there? What rates can I expect to spend the night there?

Thanks!

The only lodging at the ruins is the Machu Picchu Sanctuary Lodge and rates are ~$500 per night. It is always booked in advance.
In Aguas Caliente, the hotel I'd recommend is the Machu Picchu Pueblo, it is not cheap either but nicer in my opinion. It books up ahead of time usually too.

We stayed at the Hostal Presidente in AC. It was pretty nice and you can get a room that overlooks the raging Rio Urubamba. Be forewarned that the river is loud! Rate was cheap. I want to say 40-45 USD.

A quick google search didn't bring up a website operated by the hostal itself. There were a number of booking agencies that included the Presidente showing rates of $55-$60 (single-double). Here's one:
