Posted: Fri March 4, 2005 11:24 AM UTC
Hi,

We would be visiting switzerland during easter holidays. Want to visit THURGAU also for a day. I would be coming from Interlaken on 27th March to this place and do a night stay. Need to go to zurich on the next day evening.

Please help me with some vital infio like accomodation and nearest train station ASAP so that I can get the bookings done... Also, if anybody has any idea about how the palce is, it would also be a great information.

Thanks for the help,
Nikesh

So now it is Thurgau, the mostly agricultural region (known mainly for its apples, apple-juice, cider etc) between the German border in the north and the prealpine mountains in the south and the Zurich county in the SW. Instead of moving forth and back, I suggest that you get a hotel in the city of Winterthur, which is less than 30 mins by train from Zurich and from Frauenfeld - the chief city of Thurgau, and a modest 15 mins to Zurich airport. Have a look at a map please.
And you should have no problem in finding an adequate hozel in Winterthur, here again, have a look in the web.

Hi nikesh27

To drive back by train to zurich airport it isn't a problem.
there is every 30min a direct train from frauenfeld (25min),weinfelden (38min) to zurich airport.
A scenic route by public transportration through thurgau and schaffhausen is:
Winterthur-Frauenfeld)
Frauenfeld-Stein am Rhein (by yellow bus)(visit the scenic old town on the other side of the rhein river)
Stein am Rhein -> Kreuzlingen (if you wish go over the boarder to konstanz germany its only 500m to border from train station konstanz is a beautiful old town)
Kreuzlingen->Romanshorn (By train) (visit lake konstanz)
Romanshorn->Weinfelden (By train) (visit the old town)
Weinfelden->Zurich Airport

It is also possible to take the ship from Stein am Rhein -> Konstanz -> Romanshorn. I dont know if the ships are on schedule at eastern.
You have to inform you at www.rail.ch

If you give me more information what you want visit then i can give you more information.

For accomodation its also possible to stay in frauenfeld or other hotels in thurgau
