El Puerto de Santa María Travel Forum

Hi,
We heading to El Puerto de Santa María in the cadiz region in Early may. Any suggestions/tips. Renting out a car so i'll probably take in a white village or two but have no other itinerary, so if you can fill in the blanks let me know.

it´s a great idea to rent a car. you could visit san lucar de Barrameda, Cadiz, Tarifa, los Caños de Meca, Arcos de la Frontera, Conil, Vejer de la Frontera. I dón´t know the number of the days that you will there but i give you an idea.

day 1 - Puerto de Santa Maria - San Lucar de Barrameda
day 2 - Jerez de la Frontera - Arcos de la Frontera -Cadiz
day 3 - Vejer de la Frontera - Chicana - Conil - Los Caños de Meca - Tarifa

A nice day trip from Puerto is to take the "vapor" that leaves from the "muelle" in the old part of town across the bay to Cadiz, a great way to see the city and approach it from water. The boat will leave you smack in the heart of the old city and is much better than driving in where you have to deal with a complicated driving/parking situation, you can either take the vapor back or hop on a bus at the station near where you leave the port to go back to Puerto, also look for the numerous ferias going on in May in the area, Puerto among them but also Jerez, Sanlucar (one of my favorites) and Rota....

Thanks for the tips folks, what sort of mileage is it between these places you've specified, I know Jerez is 20 mins drive and Cadiz but the other places you mentioned i'm not sure on.
