| Timisoara | Hostel Timisoara Posted: Sun February 27, 2005 05:38 PM UTC
Hello
I was just wondering whether anyone had a contact for this place? The email on the web (fitt@xnet.ro) bounces back so if anyone knows any other means of getting in touch that would be greatly appreciated. Alternatively, if anyone knows of any other hostels/cheap accommodation it would be really good to hear about - my research doesn't seem to have unearthed very much! thanks a lot! |

The YH used to work (Eracleea / Casa Tineretului Hostel, 19 Arieș, tel.: +4-0722540658, +4(0256)293960, located in the Casa Tineretului (The Youth House), a big concrete building at the crossing of Padiș and Craiova streets, to the left. The hostel actually had 6 double and triple rooms on the 3rd floor (as you enter the main doorway, turn to the left and walk straight to the stairs, then up until you notice a small bar by the stairs), EUR 7 / person in DBL or TRPL with TV set and shared bathroom. The place is reachable from Huniade Square by trolley #19 or trolleys #15, 16 from Carada Square. The last time I stayed there was during the fall 2003. Then I learnt from travelers that it was closed and I am not sure it opened up again. Anyway it was quite far from the centre.
Another cheap option for the summer (but nevertheless far from the centre as well) is Internațional Camping, 6 Pădurea Verde Alley, tel.: +4(0256)208925, fax: +4(0256)225596, campinginternational@yahoo.com, http://www.campinginternational.ro/, EUR 54 / 4 persons bungalow, EUR 4 / tent. The camping site also has a restaurant, a café, caravanning sites. It is reachable from the station (and from Mircea Eliade Square in the centre) by trolley #11 to Virgil Economu bus stop and then walk along Calea Dorobanților until it meets to the left Pădurea Verde Alley. However the best of the quasi-central places to stay in the city is Nord Hotel, 47 General Dragalina Avenue (just across the street from the railway station, to the right), www.turism_banatulsa@mail.com, www.hotelnord.ro, tel.: +4(0256)497504, fax: +4(0256)491621, EUR 29 / DBL, EUR 17 / SGL, EUR 42 / APT. It is reachable from the Orthodox Cathedral by tram # 1. The centre lies 10 minutes away walking or 5 minutes by tramway. Best regards and let me know whether I can be of any further help. Alex

the hotel prices in timsioara are about the same...it depends on the number of stars easch hotel has, but for a 2 or 3 stars hotelis like 30-40 euros per night, including breackfast.and they are not hostels, they are hotels. i don't know if there are any hostels in timisoara, but i could help you stay in student dorms where the fees are like 15 euros a day.
hotel nord is not very far away from downtown of timisoara, hotel timisoara or hotel central are right in the middle of the city. tell me more about what are you interested in and maybe i can help you more:) corina

Hi Corina
Thanks very much for offering to help :-) Basically, we're just after somewhere clean and quiet and cheap - we usually go for hostels (also because they're a little less soulless than hotels, and people are friendlier if you want to chat!) The student dorm thing sounds cool though and a bit more budget friendly, is that 15 Euros for 2 people? We'd prefer to stay somewhere within walking distance of the train station just because it's a lot easier, so if the dorms are an option for that then fantastic! :-) thankyou!

I recommend Zefir Pensiune :
http://www.pensiuneazefir.go.ro/album.htm Tell them Jody in America referred you. You will not be sorry you stayed there. I love Timisoara. Is this your first time there or to Romania? Do you speak Romanian? I also recommend Calin Boruga for Taxi - Translator - Guide - his tele # is 0722534647 - I use him when I visit Timisoara.
