East Nusa Tenggara Province Flores transport

Hi,

I am planning a trip over Indonesia from Bali to Flores (I have to Bali in 2003 already). I have one week to go Jakarta to Flores and then back to Lombok or Bali. I suppose 2 possible routes - please recommend one of them:
1. Flight Jakarta - Ende. Keli Mutu lakes, bus/plane to Labuan Bajo, boat trip over Rinca/Komodo to Lombok.

2. Flight Jakarta - Labuan Bajo, boat trip over Rinca/Komodo to Lombok.

I prefer route 1 but I worry about the time. I have only 1 week (Sunday to Sunday).

Please tell me anything you know about travelling in this area.

I don't really recommend either.

I think 1 week would be extremely short time to go to Flores and back from there to Bali overland.

If you insist, the second option is the only one that could physically be done at all. Buses on Flores are slow, roads are bad, attractions take time to see, etc...

route 1 might be better off. from ende you can rent a car iof you travel more than 1 pax (incl.driver) to go to kelimutu that will take you around 1 hr. and then you go back to ende and go to labuan bajo better catch an "express travel" which will take around 8 hrs and take a ferry over komodo island. dont forget to bring cash as CC is not common in there . also bring snacks and drinks . have a nice trip
