How much does it cost to eat in Nouméa? I mean restaurants, cafes and groceries. I have read in the travel tips that imported foodstuffs are very expensive. But can you buy local produce at reasonable prices? If so, what is available? Is there anywhere that's cheap to eat out?

Noumea is very expensive to eat at because most of the food is bought in from Australia or France.
Im not too sure about local produce, but as for a "cheap eat" there isnt one!

You can get stuff at the market at a reasonable price, but New Caledonia is in general expensive. Things like croissants and baguettes are quite cheap, but fruit and veg tends to be expensive.
As a guide, dinner for two (mind you I do like drinks with dinner) came to between 7000-9000 XPF.
