| Bolzano | Trains to Bolzano Posted: Tue February 22, 2005 04:11 AM UTC
I was through Bolzano on the train from Innsbruck last summer. This summer I planned to take the train from Munich to Bolzano and stay a few days. However, the Eurail site does not recognize Bolzano as a destination ( it did a few months ago). Is not possible to take the train to Bolzano now for some reason? I will have to find a different way to get to Bolzano if that is true.
Thanks, Tim Stone |

Yes it is possible to travel to Bolzano by train. The tracks are still there. Maybe your site refers to it by its German name of Bozen. I took trains and buses from Munich to Bolzano and well beyond last May, and stopped at about 10 fascinating places in between including Innsbruck. Trains are frequent. I visited each city for an average of a few hours, then caught the next train. They depart hourly. No need for reservations and confusing timetables. Tickets from the electronic vendor are the cheapest. See my VT Italy page for some tips about Bolzano, Bressanone, Trento, Rovereto, etc.
By the way Bozano takes a few hours and not a few days to enjoy. ciao e guten tag !

Were you looking at the raileurope.com site? I see that Bolzano is not listed (under either spelling).
Well, learn to use www.bahn.de, the very fine website by the German national railways. Look for English on the left, then for a destination, enter either Bolzano or Bozen. You'll see that the trains leave every 2 hours or so, and the trip takes 4 hours each way... Bill

Thanks for the reponses. Yes, I was using the www.raileurope.com site. Neither Bolzano nor Bozen are listed. www.bahn.de worked great, however.
Glad the tracks are still in place. Tim
