Parque Nacional do Iguaçu Where to stay/what to do?
Posted: Mon February 21, 2005 07:10 PM UTC
I am going to visit the falls for 3/4 days in April.

For accommodation our options seem to be the Continental Inn, the Refain Palace and the Galli Falls Hotels (Brazil). Does anyone know anything about these? We were thinking of staying in the city (Foz) so that we might be able to enjoy the nightlife? But is there any nightlife, and is it as seedy as some people suggest?

Also - do shuttle buses to the falls stop at any of these hotels?

What are the must dos for 3 days stay?

Thanks

Hi,

I would reccommend you stay at the Bourbon Caratas, it is a great hotel.

As for things to see I would suggest the falls of course, the park it self is fantastic for walking around. They have a ride there called Macuco Safari, it is unbelivable, the boat goes realy near the falls, sometimes you think is going to turn, there is a lot of adrenaline, they also have rafting there, but is not my thing so i didn't do it. There is also the Itaipu Dam, the world’s largest power station, the Bird Park, and the Jesuits’ ruins on both Brazilian and Argentinean sides of the border.

Why don't you have a look at the Discover brazil site they can give you more information.

I stayed at the hosteling international place that goes by the name of hostel Sumaj or something similar, the dorms are acceptable and clean i think there is the option of a private room. There is a small swimming pool that is cleaned every day and gets the sun all day long. There were plenty of English speking guests and at 15 pesos a night with an HI card seems like an absolute bargain

Cheers for that.

Is it not worth staying in the town itself - is there not much going on and is it a dump?

would it be better to stay nearer the falls? do the hotels provide tours?

thanks

Iguazu is a trip for 1- 2 days , no more,
from brazilian side you can take acheap bus to
falls, from the one of the bus stations, is reaaly simple
other visits if you desire more: Itaipu repressa,
argentian side of Cataratas...
