Kailua-Kona Kona or Oahu Submarine and whale watching

We will be traveling to Oaha on March 25-29 and then to Kona. Which would be the best for taking the Atlantis submarine and a whale watching excursion. I understand you can get either or both on both islands. Thank you!

Try Capt. Dan's Whale Watching excursion in Kona. The water along the Kona Coast is protected from the wind by mountains and is among the calmest in all of the Hawaiian Islands. Everyone says Capt. Dan is the best. I must also advise you to take the sub in Kona as the water is calm and clear . The Kona coast has no rivers or streams to cloud the water with sediment so it has awesome visibility underwater.. The Kona coast is also the number 1 place in all of the Hawaiian Islands for tropical fish collectors because of their abundance. I love Waikiki too. But for the activities you mentioned, it's Kona all the way.

I agree on the whale-watching. Kona is the best. Go out with Dan McSweeney. It's only $60 a person, and you spend about three hours out on the water. Seeing whales is guaranteed. We have never not seen whales when we have gone with him. He used to track whales between Hawaii and Alaska for National Geographic. He is very knowledgeable. We just got back a week ago, and went on his whale watch. We saw so many breaches. I even got a picture of a whale half out of the water, and you can see his eye. Great fun!

We just did whale watching tour with Body Glove tours. Very disappointing experience - practically they brought us a bit away from the pier and let us search for whales ourself. Not surprisingly we did not see anything.
