Help for please for someone possibly moving to Uruguay
Posted: Tue February 15, 2005 03:35 AM UTC
I want to move to Uruguay for 4 months in June. I want to become fluent in Spanish as I've studied it in school for a long time. I'm looking for a nice place near a beach (not too expensive. don't want to pay rent more than $700 US a month) where I'll be near locals who do NOT speak much English. I'm also looking for a place that's big enough for myself and two pets. Can anyone help, and is this possible or am I living in a dreamworld?

A good place would be Punta Carretas. Of course there will be some people who speak english but you never really know, it depends on the place, and the most wealthy the neighbourhood is, the more people that will speak english.

Hello!

The best districts may be Pocitos and Punta Carretas: by the sea, nice, safe... Do not worry about the pets, everybody has at least one dog here! The rents are usually cheaper than that (unless you are looking for a big mansion!!! ;-)

Cheers,
Andrea

Hi

You are coming off season rents should be cheap.

I have been living in Punta Del este, Uruguay for three months.

Do you want a spanish school or just to come practise. The only school are in Montevideo.

Rents as of March in most beach areas go down dramatically. you can get a place in La Barra for 100 Dollar a month easy.

Other beach areas are the same.

The more remote the less english. I would go to Rocha. Beautiful and less english.

You know your coming in the winter and it wont be the best weather.

The spanish in Uruguay and Argentina is it´s own bread for learning I hear Equido or Peruvian spanish is clearer.

Consider northern Peru. Not quite as safe but the spanish is clearer and it is much cheaper and the weather will be better for that time of the year.

Good travels John

No english?? Ok, in spanish then.

USD 700?? Podés vivir todo el mes con eso tranquilamente, en un apartamento cerca de la playa, en Pocitos o Punta Carretas, Malvín, etc. y lo suficientemente grande para vos, los perros, gatos, pájaros y quien te quiera visitar.

Bienvenida,

Rafael

Sorry to the owner but this is way over priced for off season.

This would be a fair rent in High season off season you can get full houses for $ 100 to $200 on the beach in Punta Del Este or La barra.

Good travels

Sorry, but these prices are only possible with a contract of 1 year.
I doubt that someone makes a rent of 3 bucks a day .

Price is strictly depending on the time of the year. Off season prices are very low.

A year contract will get you a deal on some properties but in peak tourist areas they will not usually rent january and february as part of a lease.

If you go out a little from the beach like maldonado the rent are reasonable year round.

Good luck
