| Tamarindo | Getting to Tamarindo Posted: Mon February 14, 2005 10:51 AM UTC
I was wondering how to get to Tamarindo from Monteverde. Are there any buses? Or must I take a private taxi or shuttle?
Thanks so much! |

We took a private shuttle. I think there were also flights and bus service too. Or, you could rent a car and drive it yourself.

Many people do it by bus, but a shuttle is definately better and saves time, too.
You can go from Monteverde to Tiliran, a nearby town. In Tiliran, they have buses perhaps going to Liberia but at least down to the Pan American Highway. Buses run constantly to Liberia at the Highway and there are bus stops everywhere. Locals can show you. Once in Liberia, ask about a bus to Tamarindo which may be at another terminal across a little field. It sounds more difficult than it is, but the waiting for the buses to come, etc. can be both a long time and a hot time! I have done it this way in the past. This entire trip might cost you $5 whereas the trip by transport will be $38. Nice little tourist bus with A/C, though. That is one way to do it. Perhaps there is another. HOP
