Siliguri is close to Gangtok the capitol of Sikkim. It is advisable to confirm your visa for Tibet either in New Delhi or the Chinese Consulate in Kolkata.

sikkim is about 4hrs drive from siliguri. u can either rent a cab or take the bus. about tibet u need to make ur visa arrangements from delhi itself.

Hi,
if you plan to go from Sikkim to Tibet by road I've to disappoint you. The border (road-link) between Sikkim an Tibet isn't open yet. As I planned to do this trip also I contacted several travel agencies in Sikkim and all told me the same story. It's a pity ... Thomas

Hi!
As you know now that driving to Sikkim takes about just 4 hrs. but let me add here that more adventurous one can fly in 5 seater helicopter in just 35 mins. to capital town of Gangtok in just Rs. 1800 per seat. The government of Sikkim is adding on this trip with a 16 seater dual- engine helicopter soon and so Nathula pass for visiting Tibet will be open in near future as commented by Thomas. Presently, you canvisit Tibet through Nepal. The border to Nepal from Sikkim is just 5 hrs drive. So look fortward to a great journey coming soon. Satish.
