Banja Luka Banja Luka and Bihac
Posted: Wed February 9, 2005 03:43 AM UTC
I'm planning a trip to Sarajevo and would love to see Banja Luka and Bihac. Both my mother and father (both deceased) were born there and I so much want to see everything they talked about. The trip will be the end of May 2005, and I was wondering if my husband and I should take a bus from Sarajevo to different places and maybe a car. How far in hours is it from Sarajevo to Banja Luka and/or Bihac? I speak Serbian (with an American accent), so hopefully I won't have too much trouble communicating or asking questions. Can't wait to get there and see my beautiful country.

From Sarajevo to Banja Luka it's about 8-9 hours, and Banja Luka to Bihac is probably 4 (I'm just guessing since Petrovac is 3) Now, if you've never driven in Bosnia, I suggest that you take a bus. It's not very expensive, but it might be uncomfortable since there is no AC and if it's hot no one will open the windows. When you're in Banja Luka you don't really need a car, I walked absolutely everywhere except the bus station. The taxis are really cheap, so there is no need (about 5KM within the city and probably up to 10 from city centre to the bus station)

Sarajevo - Banjaluka is about 4 hours by car and 5-6 by buss. If you have a luck, you will travel with one of Banjaluka`s busses, (name of the company is Autiprevoz) most of them have AC. And if you want to open the window, as everywhere else, if you are polite ppl are friendly and nice.
