| Ronda | Getting to Ronda by car Posted: Fri February 4, 2005 03:23 PM UTC
Can anyone advise which is the best way (road) to be taken to get to Ronda. I mean I don't particularly like these hair-raising treacherous mountain roads, so if there is one less electrifying, please feel free to recommend (as I will be traveling all around Andalusia and it is transparent to which place to approach it from – Seville, Cordoba, Malaga, Marbella, or Cadiz). Thanks in advance.

the really only one road for you is the main road coming from san pedro de alcantara (marbella).
from malaga to san pedro:60km (speedway) from san pedro to ronda:40km

Thanks, but isn't this particular one considered to be most treacherous?? And how long is the unpleasant part of the driving? Appreciate your advice as you, as far as I understand, live next door (so to speak). Thanks again.

in my mind, other roads are harder; this one is very large with easy and large curves!
you have to believe me,it's a matter I know !

We drove around Andalucia four years ago, and I'm not sure what you mean by treacherous. As far as I remember, the roads were fairly well-maintained. Winding no doubt because you're driving through mountaneous areas, but it's not like there's a risk of you plunging over a ravine at every turn. The real difficulty we found were confusing signs, usually when we tried to get out of town onto the highways again. Just take the usual precautions, don't speed and you'll be fine. The views are stunning as you drive through the pueblos blancos. Check out my Andalucia pages for some ideas abt where to go. Have fun!

Cbeaujean, Sierralyndon, thank you both very much for you replies – I do feel much better now as I desperately wanted to visit Ronda (we missed it on our previous visit to Spain) and am quite confident we will go there now. Thanks again.
